Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers stated they were contacted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.

An important political figure said the incident made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
